Welcome to the Nagambie Water Ski Club website. The Nagambie Water Ski Club was formed late in 1980 and has a home site along the Goulburn River just upstream from the Nagambie township.
While the Goulburn River is the clubs major boating venue we must be aware that the river is not solely for our use. The club site is however for members only. With this website we hope to keep the members informed as to the state of the club and provide all information that they may require.
The club is primarily a family, social orientated ski club. Since that time the club has maintained the highest standards of behaviour and safety whilst encouraging the sport within the Nagambie area.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we strive, the peoples of the rivers and the hills of the Strathbogie Shire region who walked these lands for generations. We pay our respects to the elders of the past, and the speakers of the first words, who lived in harmony with this country.
I, Chris Banks, Executive Director Safety Strategy and Regulation and delegate of Safe Transport Victoria, make the following declaration under section 203(3) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic).
For the purposes of boating activity conducted by the Nagambie Waterski Club on the waters of the Goulburn River, persons and vessels involved in the 2024-2025 Nagambie Waterski Club Events are exempt from the following requirements:
State Rules made under the Marine Act 1988
1. Clause 2(a) – must not exceed 5 knots within 50 metres of a person in the water
2. Clause 2(c) – must not exceed 5 knots within 50 metres of another vessel
Subject to the conditions detailed below:
• Masters of rescue vessels are only exempt from items 1 and 2 when undertaking a rescue operation to retrieve a person in distress, provide for their initial medical or other needs and deliver them to a place of safety on shore.
• All participants and occupants of vessels involved with the event must wear a lifejacket at all times during the event and vessels must have all prescribed safety equipment, including rescue vessels.
• Should vessels not involved in the event enter the competition area, the event must be stopped until the unauthorised vessel or person has moved outside of the area.
• The exemptions apply for the dates and times as detailed in Table 1, to the persons and vessels registered to participate in the Nagambie Water Ski Club Events on the Goulburn River.
• The exemptions apply provided the stated safety controls and undertakings detailed in the application form and associated documentation are adhered to.
